More than 800 students from elementary schools, junior high schools and high schools in Tai'an took part in a climbing event at Mount Tai on Oct 31.
During the event, students learned about the geology, landscape, stone inscriptions, and famous literary and cultural works related to Mount Tai.
"Although climbing the mountain was rather tiring, I picked up a lot of cultural knowledge of Mount Tai. I now know that it is a unique cultural mountain with rich cultural treasures. I would like to climb Mount Tai again in the future," said Xu Jiaqi, a student from Class Two of Grade Five in Yuefeng Primary School.
Yu Zixuan, a student from the Middle School of Taishan College, said she was impressed by the porters during the climb.
"Despite not carrying much during the climb, we were still tired after the journey. But these porters didn't seem tired at all despite having to carry heavy loads. Seeing them gave me great motivation," said Yu.
More than 500 students from Grade 11 of Tai'an Experimental High School reached the Daguan Peak after climbing over 6,300 steps and took part in a "coming of age" ceremony.
"They made it on Mount Tai despite facing difficulties. I believe they will shoulder the responsibilities bestowed upon them by the era with the same courage in the future," said Zhang Quanjie, a teacher from Tai'an Experimental High School.
