Ningbo's Jiangbei district has recently been announced as a national demonstration zone for ecological civilization construction, according to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
This recognition comes as a result of Jiangbei's significant progress in promoting environmental sustainability over the past three years.
During the period, the district has upgraded 745 enterprises, transforming the district into a more eco-friendly industrial landscape. This effort has also revitalized over 1,600 mu (106.67 hectares) of underutilized industrial land, resulting in the establishment of 1.4 million additional square meters of economic growth space.
The district's commitment to green initiatives is further demonstrated by the establishment of nine national-level green factories which serve as models of environmentally-friendly production practices, highlighting Jiangbei's dedication to sustainable industrial development.
Jiangbei's achievements have not gone unnoticed, as it has been recognized as an advanced area in the province for its exceptional performance in maximizing economic output and efficiency per unit of land. Additionally, the district has been ranked 35th among the top 100 districts in terms of green development in the country.
Being designated as a national ecological civilization construction demonstration zone is the highest level of honor recognizing ecological construction in China. This recognition places Jiangbei alongside other locations in Ningbo - Xiangshan, Beilun, Zhenhai, Ninghai, and Haishu - all of which were previously selected as demonstration zones.
