The X9642 train, loaded with 50 containers of rubber products, departed from Xi'an International Port Station in Xi'an and headed east to Qingdao Port on Oct 24. From there, the products will be shipped to Southeast Asia by sea.
This marks the official launch of the first sea-rail express (Xi'an-Qingdao-Southeast Asia) for rubber products.
This is another milestone for Xi'an in the construction of international logistics channels, injecting new energy into the expansion of the eastward international logistics corridor for goods made in China.
The train is developed by China Railway Xi'an Group Co, COSCO Shipping Logistics & Supply Chain Management Co and Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Co.
The sea-rail intermodal transportation overcomes the shortcomings of the traditional land transportation model, such as uncontrollable road conditions, multiple port loading and unloading processes, and high storage costs at ports.
The sea-rail express (Xi'an-Qingdao-Southeast Asia) is expected to take approximately 10 days to complete the entire transportation process, reducing transportation time by 16 percent compared to land transportation.
Moving forward, China Railway Xi'an Group Co will increase cooperation with COSCO Shipping Logistics & Supply Chain Management Co to promote the development of a high-quality logistics channel linking Xi'an with Qingdao, the rest of China, and the world.
