Shanxi province's economy maintained its stable recovery over the past three quarters, with steady industrial growth, and overall stability in employment and prices.
This was according to an economic performance report announced on Oct 23 by Shanxi Bureau of Statistics and the Shanxi branch of the National Bureau of Statistics.
From January to September, the province's gross domestic product reached 1.80 trillion yuan ($246.98 billion), a 4.5-percent increase compared to the same period last year.
The added value of strategic emerging industries increased 12.5 percent year-on-year. Specifically, the energy-saving and environmental protection industry grew 36.3 percent, and the comprehensive utilization of waste resources industry grew 57.9 percent.
In the service sector, the accommodation and catering industry grew 14.6 percent, the financial industry was up 7 percent, and the transportation, warehousing, and postal industry climbed 6.3 percent.
With the recovery of the consumer market, sales of travel-related goods in the province saw noticeable growth, and the tourism market has continued to rebound.
Local major scenic spots received 66.06 million tourist visits over the past nine months, a 1.3-fold increase from 2022; their ticket revenue and operational revenue reached 2.22 billion yuan and 3.82 billion yuan, respectively, up 170 percent and 160 percent.
Resident incomes steadily increased, and the overall employment situation was stable. The per capita disposable income of urban residents reached 30,775 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.7 percent; while the per capita disposable income of rural residents was 12,388 yuan, an 8-percent increase. The province has added 426,000 new urban jobs, achieving 94.7 percent of the annual target.
