The warm reception of Henan’s archaeological dig boxes among young people has sparked the Henan Museum in Zhengzhou, Henan province, to do a series of dig boxes in the past few years. It has also inspired other museums to enter into this field.

The archaeological dig boxes of Henan Museum won the "most popular cultural and creative products" at a seminar focused on cultural innovation and exchange development among 40 museums and institutes, held in Zhengzhou from Oct 16 to 17.

More than 100 experts from nearly 20 provinces gathered together to join the seminar at Henan Museum.

Ma Xiaolin, director of Henan Museum, said: "Cultural and creative products awaken people's historical memory and cultural identity, which inspired us to learn more about traditional culture, and also reflected our historical and cultural self-confidence."

Song Hua, director of the museum's cultural and creative office, said an archaeological blind box that allowed people to dig up the earth piece by piece and find their treasures carries its own unique cultural and social significance.
The treasures are small-sized replicas of cultural relics selected from the Henan Museum's collections.

"Behind the small boxes are people's respect for the hardwork of the archaeologists, as well as our millennia-long history and civilization," she added.

The archaeological blind dig box is a good example of a museum product to arouse people's passion to learn about archaeology and culture, and the interaction with fans also sparked us to be upgrade, Song said.
