The Xi'an Green Travel Index Report in 2022 was released at the Xi'an Smart Traffic Management Seminar on Oct 19.
The report shows that Xi'an's green travel index in 2022 was 83.2 points, a year-on-year increase of 2.9 points. The average commuting time in central Xi'an was 35 minutes, which remains unchanged from 2021.
Compared with cities of the same size, the average commuting time for Xi'an citizens is relatively low.
The proportion of green travel in Xi'an in 2022 reached 73.2 percent, a steady increase from 73 percent in 2021.
In 2022, bus lane mileage in the city reached 398.9 kilometers, remaining unchanged from 2021.
Throughout the year, Xi'an added 20 kilometers of metro operation mileage, forming a new network operation pattern consisting of eight lines with a mileage of 279 km.
Moreover, all buses in Xi'an were new or clean energy buses in 2022, making buses the first type of urban transportation to achieve comprehensive clean energy.
By the end of 2022, the number of new energy vehicles in Xi'an had reached 259,800, accounting for 6 percent of all vehicles, a significant increase from 3.8 percent in 2021.
In addition, Xi'an's public charging infrastructure had 94.7-percent coverage, an increase of 2.7 percent.
