On Oct 12, Jinan held a ceremony to inaugurate the "Corner of Chinese Culture · Nishan Library" at Samarkand State University in Uzbekistan.
Sun Shihui, deputy director-general of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jinan Municipal Committee, and Akmal Akhatov, vice-rector of the Samarkand National University, attended the ceremony.
Jinan, known as the City of Springs, designated Akmal Akhatov as its city ambassador during the ceremony, aiming to enhance the city's reputation in Samarkand and introduce Jinan to more areas and regions globally.
Samarkand is the second-largest city in Uzbekistan and a key hub on the Silk Road. In 2019, Jinan and Samarkand became friendly cooperative cities.
The year 2023 marks the 10th anniversary since the Belt and Road Initiative was first proposed. The "Corner of Chinese Culture · Nishan Library" aims to strengthen mutual ties, promote the spirit of the ancient Silk Road, and enhance mutual understanding between civilizations.
The library will play a crucial role in building bridges of communication by offering bilingual books tailored for overseas readers. The Nishan Library holds great significance as it will provide the people of Uzbekistan with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Jinan's history, culture, and social development.
