Xi'an sees high-quality foreign trade in Jan-Aug

The total foreign trade value of Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, reached 231.83 billion yuan ($31.77 billion) from January to August this year, of which exports were worth 147.97 billion yuan and imports were worth 83.87 billion yuan.

General trade accounted for 38.1 percent of total foreign trade, an increase of 7.5 percentage points compared to the same period last year.

During the first eight months of this year, Xi'an witnessed strong growth in the export and import of new products, with the export and import of new energy vehicles (NEVs) increasing by a factor of 64.8.

The export of second-hand cars also experienced rapid growth in the city this year.

From January to August, Xi'an exported a total of 2,251 second-hand cars, five times more than the entire previous year. They were worth $63.43 million, 4.9 times more than all of last year.

In August alone, the city exported 1,147 second-hand cars valued at $40.15 million.

Since the beginning of this year, Xi'an has launched a campaign to support companies in expanding into overseas markets. Foreign trade companies such as Xi'an Ato Electronic Technology and Shaanxi Bsbsucceed Trade Co have participated in exhibitions in Frankfurt, Germany, Chicago, the United States, and other locations, signing over $11 million in foreign trade orders.

Furthermore, trade and investment liberalization and facilitation have been improved. The China-Europe freight train comprehensive service platform and digital financial service platform are performing well, providing one-stop and integrated international transportation services for online booking, customs clearance, settlement, and payment.

From January to August, the freight train made a total of 3,477 trips, a 31.9-percent increase compared to the same period last year, transporting 3.04 million metric tons of goods, a 37-percent increase.
