The 2023 Maritime Silk Road Cultural Festival, which will kick off in Guangzhou's Yuexiu district on Friday and conclude on Tuesday, is expected to create a new brand of cultural event in the Guangdong provincial capital, help construct a culturally strong city and promote its high-quality development in the months to come.
"The event will help tell the good stories of the ancient Maritime Silk Road and carry on Guangzhou's traditional and commercial history," He Yuanfei, deputy director of the Yuexiu District Bureau of Culture, Broadcast, Television and Tourism, said at a news conference on Wednesday in Guangzhou.
Yin Xiaolan, deputy director of Yuexiu district's bureau of commerce, said the bureau will also organize a series of commercial and related events to boost foreign trade, exchange and cooperation during the event.
Meanwhile a series of activities, involving music, performance, poetry, Cantonese cuisine, Lingnan (South China) arts and Lingnan traditional Chinese medicines, will be held, she said.
