From April to July of 2023, an archaeological excavation was launched at a primary school in Yuyao, Ningbo city, Zhejiang province, unveiling a settlement site dating back to the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) and Six Dynasties (222-589).
A substantial quantity of acorns was unearthed from a Han Dynasty pit, which were stored as food by people of the period. Meanwhile, copper coin pits and six wells were discovered at the Six Dynasties ruins, with tile-ends, pottery pots, jars, and ceramic bowls being found in the wells. The finds reveal the lives of people living near rivers as early as over 2,000 years ago.
