An energy storage power station with a capacity of 100 megawatt hours (MWh) belonging to Wuxi Blue Sky Gas Turbine Thermoelectricity Co Ltd, which is based in Wuxi New District, was recently integrated into Jiangsu province's electricity system planning.
The station, with an investment of 210 million yuan ($28.96 million), is expected to commence construction at the end of this year and start operations in June 2024.
An energy storage power station is aimed at addressing the shortage during peak-hour electricity demand. It stores excess electricity generated during low-demand periods and releases it back into the grid during peak hours, thereby enhancing the flexibility, reliability, and security of the regional electrical grid.
Energy storage power stations can also convert renewable energy into stored power, enabling sustainable electricity generation, improving energy efficiency and reducing pollution.
