Taiyuan's main scenic spots, parks, tourism and leisure districts, and nighttime cultural and tourism consumption areas saw surges in tourists during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday from Sept 29 to Oct 6.
Over the period, these areas received 6.10 million visitors, an increase of 384 percent compared to last year.

While the number of tourists multiplied, their ticket sales revenue also rose 366.6 percent year-on-year to 114.04 million yuan ($15.62 million).
Bell Tower Street received 720,000 visitors, making it the most popular tourist destination in the city over the eight-day holiday.

Cultural venues such as the Shanxi Museum, Shanxi Merchants Museum, Shanxi Bronze Museum, Shanxi Science and Technology Museum, and Shanxi Museum of Geology also welcomed a significant number of visitors.
During the holiday, Taiyuan-based travel agencies received 10 inbound tour groups with 224 people and hosted 311 domestic tour groups with 6,157 people from Shanghai, Beijing, and the provinces of Hunan, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Yunnan, Hainan, and Guangdong.
