Three major railway stations in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, saw record-high passenger volumes during the 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday from Sept 29 to Oct 6.
Guiyangbei, Guiyang East, and Guiyang railway stations transported 1.21 million passengers, with an average of 151,300 passengers per day. The total number increased by 353,000 compared to the same period in 2019, representing a growth rate of 42 percent.
The passenger volume of Guiyangbei and Guiyang East high-speed railway stations accounted for 80.3 percent of the total, indicating that high-speed rail has become the preferred mode of travel.
Furthermore, during the eight-day holiday, over 1.2 million visitors arrived in Guiyang by rail from the provinces of Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Yunnan, Sichuan, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu, the municipalities of Chongqing and Shanghai, and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
