Shuai Changwen from Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – won the final of the women's 200-meter canoe double rowing event in 44.269 seconds with her national teammate Lin Wenjun at the ongoing 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou city on Oct 3.
Shuai's passion for canoeing began when she joined the Guiyang water project team for training back in 2013. She continued to hone her skills and in 2015 trained with the canoeing team at the Guizhou Water Sports Development Center.
At the 14th National Games of China in Shaanxi province in 2021, Shuai won the 200-meter single rowing title. Her hard work and dedication paid off, when she was selected to train with the national team in the same year.
She was victorious with her partner in the 200-meter double rowing event at the Hungary Station and the Poznan Station of the Canoe Stillwater World Cup, respectively in 2023.
Additionally, Chang was triumphant with her partners in the 200-meter double rowing and the 500-meters four-person rowing events at the 2023 Canoe Sprint World Championships.
