Shanxi province has made efforts to create a hub for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, the Information Office of Shanxi Provincial Government said on Sept 27.
Since 2017, the total amount of technology contract transactions in the province has increased from 25.64 billion yuan ($3.52 billion) to 56.18 billion yuan, and 23 excellent scientific and technological achievements have won national science and technology awards.
The construction of national-level innovation platforms and high-level innovation carriers has been accelerated. The Shanxi Research Institute of Huairou National Laboratory has been officially established.
Meanwhile, the National Supercomputing Center (Taiyuan) and the National Third Generation Semiconductor Technology Innovation Center (Shanxi) have been put into operation. And the National Key Laboratory for Clean and Efficient Utilization of Coal-based Energy has been approved for construction by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Shanxi has set up five provincial laboratories and 76 provincial technology innovation centers, 20 pilot scale experiment bases, and 80 industrial technology innovation strategic alliances.
It has also officially recognized 20 demonstration bases for technology transfers, and 66 demonstration enterprises in the same category.
Some 37.48 million yuan was granted for scientific and technological innovation in 2022, benefiting over 500 enterprises.
There were 3,916 high-tech enterprises and 5,294 science and technology-based SMEs in the province as of the end of last year. Meanwhile, the total amount of R&D expense deductions for science and technology enterprises in Shanxi increased by 53.4 percent that year from 2021.
Shanxi has invested 221 million yuan over the past five years in a special guidance program for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, supporting over 500 projects.
