The China (Chongqing)-ASEAN Vocational Education and High-Quality Development Forum was held on Wednesday in Chongqing's Yongchuan district, seeking high-quality development in vocational education and training (VET) between Chongqing and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations members.
Representatives of vocational colleges and enterprises from Chongqing and seven ASEAN countries — a total of more than 60 representatives from Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand and Singapore — attended the event.
During the opening ceremony, a group signing ceremony of intercollegiate international cooperation projects was held between six colleges from the Western China Vocational Education Base and six ASEAN colleges — Chiang Rai Rajabhat University (Thailand), Perdana University (Malaysia), Pannasastra University (Cambodia), San Sebastian College-Recoletos (the Philippines), Dimensions International College (Singapore) and Champasak Technical Vocational College (Laos).
Located in Chongqing's Yongchuan district and with a total of 17 colleges and universities, the Western China Vocational Base is one of the leading bases in the VET in Western China, the organizing committee said.
At the event, international cooperation agreements in smart manufacturing and modern logistics were signed between 12 enterprises from home and abroad including Great Wall Motor Co (Chongqing branch), Chongqing Huazhong CNC Technology Co, Talk Med Pte. (Singapore) and Wonderland International Development Co (Thailand).
International students who had just finished the 2023 Silk Road Program of Chongqing Municipal People's Government Mayor Scholarship were awarded certificates of completion at the forum.
