Shuofang airport resumes operation after a facelift

Sunan Shuofang International Airport in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, welcomed landing of a China Southern Airlines Boeing 787-CZ3913 aircraft on Sept 24, marking its resumption after 21-days suspension.

Starting from Sept 3, Shuofang airport, which has been in operation for many years, repaired and improved its facilities and beautified the environment at its domestic terminal to improve the traveling experience of passengers.

On the first day of resumption, 195 passenger flights occurred, accounting for more than 92 percent of the total before Sept 3. Flights to Hong Kong, Macao, Osaka, and Seoul also started operating.

Shuofang airport has maintained a steady development since its initial operations in 2004. In the first eight months of this year, the airport saw the take-off and landing of 51,000 aircraft and delivered nearly 6.3 million passengers and 78,000 metric tons of cargo, up 93.5 percent, 141.7 percent, and 13.8 percent respectively.

Currently, flights at the airport are capable of reaching 69 cities, including nine cities in other countries and regions.
