Shanxi firm helps fuel torch relay for Hangzhou Asian Games

Methanol heavy-duty trucks, produced by the production base of Geely New Energy Commercial Vehicles Group in Jinzhong city, North China's Shanxi province, provided transportation support for the fuel for the torch relay at the ongoing 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province. 

The selection of these trucks by the organizing committee of the19th Asian Games was due in large part to their environmental friendliness and cost-effectiveness. 

They run on green methanol, resulting in a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions compared to diesel heavy-duty trucks. In addition to achieving carbon neutrality, they also cut fuel costs by 18-32 percent. 

Jinzhong, which has been deeply involved in the methanol industry for 40 years, has a strong reputation and enjoys widespread recognition in the fields of methanol fuel and methanol vehicle production. 

In recent years, the city has taken the development and application of new energy vehicles and methanol vehicle clusters as a priority project to strengthen the manufacturing industry, deepen the energy revolution, and promote industrial transformation and development.

It has mastered the coal-to-methanol and coke oven gas-to-methanol production technology, and created a diverse range of applications in the fields of automobiles, catering utensils, clean heating, and marine vessels. 

The Jinzhong production base of Geely New Energy Commercial Vehicles Group has become the largest such base in the new energy vehicle industry in Shanxi province.
