Two places in Yangzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, have been shortlisted as national boutique rural tourism destinations, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced on Sept 22.
One hundred and forty-nine routes in the country made the list.
The two places are Huaisi town in the city's Hanjiang district and Gaoyang village in Jiangdu district.
Huaisi town is home to a Grand Canal Culture Park and a vegetable and fruit base, where tourists can experience canal culture and buy specialty agricultural products such as rice.
Gaoyang village, which is best known for its red culture, also has a 3,000-mu (200-hectare) vegetable and fruit base.
Tourists can also savor local delicacies such as beancurd and chicken soup.
