The city of Guilin signed 30 contracts for projects worth a total 40.47 billion yuan ($5.55 billion) during the 20th China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit - held in Nanning, capital of South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Sept 16-19.
Among Guilin's new projects, 19 in the city - located in the Guangxi autonomous region - are related to industry, with a total investment of 22.84 billion yuan. Some 14 are in the manufacturing sector, covering such areas as high-end metal materials, biomedicines and food processing.
In the tertiary industry sector, 11 projects were signed with a total investment of 17.63 billion yuan - covering areas including big health, cultural tourism, as well as modern commerce and logistics.
Notably, there was a 6.5-billion-yuan investment in the Xiufeng district's Qintan cultural and tourism street project and a 2.5-billion-yuan investment in the Qixing district's Aegean Sea shopping park project.
The Qintan cultural and tourism street project - which has the highest level of investment among the raft of Guilin projects - will cover a total area of 890 mu (59 hectares). It will focus on the construction of public infrastructure in cultural tourist blocks, urban renewal programs and in schools.
