Guizhou's Miao embroidery to debut at Milano Fashion Week

Guizhou's exquisite Miao embroidery will shine at Milano Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024, which is being held in Italy on Sept 19-25.

Jointly organized by the Consulate General of China in Milan and Guizhou Provincial People's Government, the "Chinese Miao Art Exhibition" will be held on Sept 24.

At the exhibition, Guizhou's fine Miao embroidery clothing will be showcased alongside numerous international fashion brands in the Milano Fashion Week exhibition hall.

The exhibits are carefully selected treasures of Guizhou's Miao embroidery. Over the course of six months, the Guizhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center collected these exhibits from various cultural institutions, Miao embroidery inheritors, and private collectors.

The exhibits fully showcase the regional techniques of Miao embroidery and demonstrate the artistic charm and historical heritage of this national-level intangible cultural heritage item.

Miao embroidery is often referred to as a "living history book worn on the body," as each stitch and thread outlines the vibrant history, culture, and ancestral wisdom of the Miao ethnic group.

The exhibition aims to propel the development of Guizhou's Miao embroidery industry towards the integration of tradition and fashion, handmade and machinery, rural and urban, industry and culture.

The execution team for the "Chinese Miao Art Exhibition" is the Art Flower Fashion Group, and its founder, Zhao Huizhou, will present Chinese designer brand HUI as one of this year's 62 fashion shows.

Zhao will use Guizhou's Four Seals Miao embroidery as inspiration and launch the brand's new collection for this season. Miao embroidery will shine with a unique charm on the Milan runway.
