Jilin province's Linjiang city displays celestial splendor

Some 100 tourists gathered in Linjiang city, Northeast China's Jilin province, for a celestial adventure on Sept 15 – as they explored the mysterious universe and experienced the wonders of the cosmos above.

During the event, Zou Hongyao, a member of the Chinese Astronomical Society, delivered a lecture on knowledge of the night sky.

He explained some of the fascinating phenomena of the universe and the achievements of human exploration. Sun Yu, another member of the Chinese Astronomical Society, talked about the autumn night sky – giving the audience deep insights into the unique charms of Linjiang's starry sky at this time of the year.

In recent years, Linjiang has been implementing the Two Mountains Theory – that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets. In 2022, the central area of the city enjoyed excellent air quality for 362 days, accounting for 99.18 percent of the total days with valid air quality measurements, with no heavy pollution days throughout the year.
