China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) has constructed the infrastructure facilities such as the No. 1 National Highway in the Republic of Congo and the Mahalapye Water Treatment Plant in Botswana. It is a project under the Belt and Road Initiative and promotes its high-quality overseas development strategies.
The 535-kilometer-long No. 1 National Highway is the most convenient, best quality road built in the Republic of Congo. It is also the largest cooperation project between China and the Republic of Congo since the establishment of bilateral relations 50 years ago and has been hailed as the "Road of Dreams."
The Mahalapye Water Treatment Plant is in Mahalapye town, 200 kilometers north of Botswana's capital city Gaborone. The daily water purification capacity increased from 16,000 cubic meters to 34,000 cubic meters, a dramatic improvement in the local water supply. It alleviates water shortage of the residents.
