The world's first hydrogen-powered smart tram, independently developed by CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC), was formally unveiled in Kuching of Sarawak, Malaysia, on Sept 6.
Kuching, the capital city of the Sarawak state in Malaysia, is known as the "City of Water." It boasts sound ecological environment and thus is in urgent need of the development of the green transportation. The newly inaugurated hydrogen-powered smart tram has taken into full account Kuching's urban development needs and plans.
The Kuching smart rail project consists of three lines with a total length of 69.9 kilometers. All 38 hydrogen-powered trams have adopted 70 MPa hydrogen storage system and a high-power fuel cell system, enabling them to run 350 kilometers to the utmost extent.
