The 12th China (Guizhou) International Alcoholic Beverage Expo concluded on a high note in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Sept 12, with the total trade volume reaching over 10 billion yuan ($1.37 billion).
The four-day expo saw the participation of more than 100 well-known liquor companies from China and abroad, sharing new opportunities for the high-quality development of the global liquor industry.

China has become the world's largest wine market. Data show that in 2022, enterprises above a designated size in China's brewing industry achieved sales of 950.9 billion yuan, and import and export volume of approximately $5.8 billion.
According to monitoring by the Ministry of Commerce, from January to July this year, the wholesale and retail sales of beverages and alcohol increased by 11.8 percent and 8.5 percent, respectively, year-on-year.
"Xishui will become a leader in the high-quality development of the liquor industry," predicted Wang Xinguo, president of the China National Association for Liquor and Spirits Circulation, on Sept 10 during a seminar on the high-quality development of Xishui sauce-flavored liquor.
Data show that in 2022, Xishui county in Guizhou province accounted for approximately 26 percent of the total production of sauce-flavored liquor in China, making it the second-largest core production area for this type of liquor.
Over the past decade, the alcohol expo has become an internationally renowned professional exhibition. It is not only an important platform for promoting Guizhou's economic and social development but also a vibrant business card showcasing the charming beauty of the province.
