Baidi City, situated on the north bank of the Yangtze River on Baidi Mountain in Chongqing, welcomed tourists on Sep 11. Located at the west entrance of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, Baidi City dates back to the late Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24). After the impoundment of the Three Gorges Dam, Baidi City became a “green island” in the “flat lake amid narrow gorges”, surrounded by water on all four sides.
