Hefei company launches world's first fully-digital PET brain scanner

Medical device company Hefei Ray Solution Digital Technology Co Ltd (Ray Solution), based in the Hefei high-tech zone in Hefei city of East China's Anhui province, recently launched the only commercially available PET brain scanner in the world.

Known as DigitMI i30, this Class III medical device has been approved by the National Medical Products Administration for market entry.

Ray Solution's digital PET team began developing the DigitMI i30 in 2018 and collaborated with the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University to conduct clinical research.

With this device, the team was able to diagnose various neurological diseases, including Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, and Alzheimer's disease.

They further refined the product this year, focusing on detection, imaging, and diagnostics.

The result of their efforts is the world's first fully-digital PET brain scanner, which is set to become a crucial tool for the early diagnosis of degenerative brain diseases.

In recent years, the Hefei high-tech zone has seen the rapid growth of its medical and high-end medical device industries, with over 600 biomedical enterprises forming a comprehensive biotech industry chain.
