Segway-Ninebot, a Chinese pioneer in the global short-distance transportation market, is beefing up push to explore the portable energy storage market.
The company's latest portable power products Cube series are scheduled to gradually start selling in Japan, North America and Europe from September to October.
Dong Jidong, general manager of home energy storage at Segway-Ninebot, said the Cube series are the company's first products to provide global green energy solutions for individuals and households.
According to him, the energy storage supply industry is seeing rapid growth partly due to the "low-carbon and zero carbon" policies rolled out across the world and the development of upstream industries.
Meanwhile, the demand is growing rapidly, with the increasing popularity of outdoor activities such as camping and recreational vehicle travel worldwide. Natural disasters in recent years have also led to frequent power shortages in different countries or regions, and the urgent need for peak household electricity optimization in European and American countries has driven the entire industry to grow rapidly, Dong added.
He said the company has nearly 20 million self-developed power battery packs and 600 million battery cell usage experience, which are sufficient to support its advantageous position and development position in the energy storage industry in terms of production and research capabilities, experience, and resources.
The company's Cube series products incorporate a stackable modular battery pack design that can be detached and added in the middle of the unit. Each battery module delivers an extra 1 kWh of power, allowing expansion up to 5 kWh.
