The groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase project of Shanghai Unitech Electronics (Nantong) Co Ltd took place on Sept 7 in the Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Jiangsu province.
The project, worth 1.45 billion yuan ($197.44 million), focuses on the next-generation information technology industry. The products manufactured by the project will find wide-ranging applications in the fields of new energy vehicles, smart controls, medical devices, and wearable technology. Furthermore, the project is committed to providing specialized technical services and solutions in the domain of new energy electronic products.
Shanghai Zhanhua Electronics (Nantong) Co., Ltd. is a joint venture established in Nantong by well-known global high-end printed circuit board manufacturer Unitech Electronic International (HK) Limitged and Shanghai Unitech Electronics Co Ltd. Its first project commenced production in August 2020.
"In 2022, the company achieved taxable sales of 1.1 billion yuan, and in the first half of this year, we have set a new record in terms of revenue for our company," said Zhang Yuanming, chairman of the company. The second phase project is set to introduce 456 sets of advanced equipment from both domestic and international sources, with the aim of establishing a new industry benchmark.
The new-generation information technology industry, one of NHIZ's leading sectors, has already evolved into a comprehensive industrial chain cluster encompassing integrated circuits, electronic components, and electronic communications.
Last year, the zone's electronic component industry cluster became the sole selection for the province's first batch of innovative industry clusters.
