The city of Yantai in Shandong province launched a promotional event in its Serbian sister city Zrenjanin on Sept 4.
The event, sponsored by the Information Office of Yantai Municipal People's Government and hosted by the Translation Institute of China International Publishing Group, featured a sharing session participated by more than 50 representatives from both countries and a week-long exhibition, which featured photos of Yantai's scenic spots, natural scenery, specialty food and intangible cultural heritage.
Wang Yanliang, director of the Belgrade China Cultural Center, said that although China and Serbia are far apart, the two countries have carried out close exchange and cooperation in culture, tourism and other fields. On behalf of his hometown of Yantai, Wang extended an invitation to Zrenjanin and Serbian friends to visit Yantai, a seaside city with a long history and stunning scenery.
Salapura, the mayor of Zrenjanin, said China and Serbia enjoy a solid friendship. As a sister city of Yantai, Zrenjanin, though a small city in terms of population and size, has a long history and strong sporting culture.
Both cities expressed hope of furthering friendly exchanges and cooperation in the fields of trade, agriculture, culture, health and other fields.
