From January to July, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, received 91.45 visits, including 17.25 million overnight visits, generating 114.3 billion yuan ($15.72 billion) in tourism revenue, with an average spending of 1,250 yuan per visitor. This means that the main tourism indicators have rebounded to pre-epidemic levels.

During this period, to advance the development of tourism, efforts have been made by Guiyang to cultivate new models adapting to market demand and integrate different industries with tourism.

In terms of the integration of culture and tourism, Guiyang focused on the preservation and utilization of local cultural relics such as Wenchang Pavilion, Jiaxiu Tower, and Yangming Temple, started construction on Guian Zhaoguo Cave Paleoanthropological Cave Site Park, and improved and promoted related tourism routes.

The city has recommended 12 villages, townships and towns to be designated as the province's key villages, townships and towns of rural tourism. There are also plans to use idle farmhouses to build 700 rural homestays.

Guiyang City and Guian New Area have also designated several streets and blocks to develop the night economy, including Shizi Street in Huaxi district and Qingyun Market. Developing cultural products has also been emphasized, while a series of tourism shops will also be opened.

Meanwhile, an array of sports events and cultural performances such as mountain bike racing, a trail running challenge, a marathon and music festivals were offered to visitors.

In addition, Guiyang and Guian have formed delegations many times to venture outside the province and hold promotional events.

Since June 25, the "Cool Guiyang" summer tourism promotions have been held in 13 cities and involved more than 400 activities.

These efforts also led to strong results, including both the explosive number of tourists and the increasing fame of Guiyang.
