Maoming city in Guangdong province has achieved a balance between cultivated land occupation and compensation.
In recent years, the city's high-quality cultivated land has been increased to 30,000 mu (2,000 hectares) through the cultivation of paddy fields.
Thanks to the city's new "smart cultivation protection" model and comprehensive three-dimensional supervision system, all of the city's cultivated land protection work and management work is processed and completed in a timely manner.
Currently, Maoming has 37,000 mu of reclaimed land that is being used as paddy fields, ranking among the top ones in the province. The city's annual grain production capacity has reached 16 million kilograms.
Maoming also prioritizes the re-cultivation of land in villages that meet a certain criteria. To date, 10 village projects with a total area of approximately 1,114 mu have been implemented, benefiting around 2,247 villagers. The total investment of these projects is about 50 million yuan ($6.85 million).
In addition, Maoming has also implemented comprehensive improvement measures to enhance its farming conditions, adjust its agricultural development structure, and increase grain yield per unit area.
