Jinan-based firm breaks ice in high-end optochip sector

In 2017, Optochip Optoelectronics settled in Jinan, focusing on the fields of optical communication and optical sensing. The company is engaged in the independent research, development, and production of various industrial-grade high-end optical chips, as well as device packaging and system integration.

"In the field of optical sensing, only our team can produce these several wavelength tunable laser chips in China," said Zhang Yaping, chairwoman of Optochip Optoelectronics, showing a sesame-sized optical chip that can only be clearly seen through a magnifying glass.

"Measuring 1 millimeter long and 0.3 mm wide, this tiny tunable laser chip lays the foundation for the development of many industries," Zhang added.

Since its establishment, Optochip Optoelectronics has aimed at the high-end market and is determined to build an internationally leading optical chip industry.

Its R&D team has been bolstering efforts to make technological breakthroughs over the past five years, and they have designed and manufactured chip products for operators such as China Unicom. They have also developed a series of tunable laser chips for various optical-sensing applications in many industries.

With the development of domestic 5G networks, and ChatGPT leading the AI era, optical chips are playing an increasingly important role in the industrial chain and are widely used in the industrial, consumer, automotive, and medical fields.

Optochip Optoelectronics has laid a solid foundation for the development of China's independent and controllable optical communication and optical sensing application markets.
