Two big Chinese patent-related awards will be unveiled in Jiangsu and Liaoning provinces, an official from China's top intellectual property regulator told a news conference on Thursday.
Lei Xiaoyun, head of the IP Utilization Promotion Department under the China National Intellectual Property Administration, said that a gold award on design patent will be issued at the China International Design Expo, which is scheduled to be held in Wuxi, Jiangsu, from Sept 9 to 11.
She added that another patent award will be issued at the China International Patent Fair in Dalian, Liaoning, from Oct 14 to 16.
Highlighting the importance of the two awards, she said, "They not only encourage enterprises and industries to innovate, but also help promote the advancements of patents, bringing economic benefits to society."
Lei said that the patent awards mainly involved emerging industries and key core technology fields, such as information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, integrated circuits, quantum information and blockchain.
Regarding the expo and the fair as two major events promoting the country's IP development, she added that she hopes more innovators share their new patents and relevant products during the activities, making efforts to stimulate consumption and serve high-quality development.
