Putuo makes strides in digital economy

Putuo district in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has been channeling more resources into bolstering its digital economy core industries and accelerating the transformation of industrial digitization since the beginning of this year.

As a result, several key indicators in the digital economy field have achieved new breakthroughs since Jan 1, with the growth rate of business income of large-scale software and information service industries reaching 37.7 percent, and the growth rate of the value-added figure in the manufacturing sector of the digital economy core industries reaching 15.6 percent.

With the continuous improvement of the foundation of digital industry development and the optimization of the development environment, the district has seen the emergence of a group of outstanding leading enterprises in the field of digital economy. One such enterprise is Zhoushan Putuo Huashu Broadcasting and Television Network Co.

As a leading enterprise in the cultural digital industry, Huashu has in recent years transformed into a comprehensive operator of smart broadcasting and television and a main force in the digital economy, relying on its comprehensive coverage of the broadcasting and television network and the development of 5G applications.

The company's digital services have been widely used in areas such as youth education and training, cultural activities for the elderly, and grassroots social governance, achieving significant results.

"Through digital empowerment, we are effectively promoting the transformation of industries in our district and accelerating the high-quality development of the economy," a staff member of the Putuo district economic and information bureau said.

Since 2019, more than 300 digital economy enterprises have been introduced to the district, and the revenue of digital economy core industries has doubled. The scale and influence of the digital economy continue to expand.
