On the afternoon of Aug 27 local time, in the women's goalball finals at the 2023 International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Games held in Birmingham, United Kingdom, the Chinese team emerged victorious and qualified for the Paris Paralympics.

"The feeling of bringing glory to my country is really great," said Ke Peiying in her WeChat Moments after she and her teammates won the award.

Ke Peiying, a 22-year-old from Jiangshan, a county-level city of Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province, is currently a sophomore at Zhejiang Vocational College of Special Education majoring in rehabilitation therapy technology.

Ke became a member of the Zhejiang provincial goalball team at the age of 17 and joined the Chinese women's goalball team when she was 21.

The goalball event of the 2023 IBSA World Games started on Aug 17 in Birmingham. A total of 13 women's goalball teams from China, Germany, Italy and other countries participated.

In the final, Ke Peiying and five other teammates won a 3-0 victory over Japan.

"I used to dream of joining the national team and participating in the Paralympics. Now half of my dream has come true. I have become a member of the Chinese women's goalball team and won the world championship and tickets to the Paris Paralympics with my teammates. I am extremely proud. In the future, I will work harder to win more awards," said Ke.

On the evening of Aug 30, Ke will return to China with her teammates for closed training for the Hangzhou Asian Para Games.
