Thriving in Xi'an: Nurturing sci-tech enterprises

Various scientific and technological innovation platforms and carriers are cultivating a unique innovation ecosystem in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

Building a public welfare innovation and entrepreneurship platform

The Shaanxi Innovation-driven Community is a non-profit new type of science and technology community alliance initiated by the Shaanxi Association for Science and Technology, together with more than 30 universities.

As of August 2023, the community has incubated 112 enterprises, including 40 science and technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises and more than 20 high-tech enterprises. With the community's assistance, more than 30 companies have applied more than 10 million yuan (1.37 million) in government policy funds.

Assisting enterprises in cultivating innovative achievements

To promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, the community has established 23 professional committees, including 21 professional technical committees and two special committees, covering areas such as artificial intelligence, new energy, and intelligent manufacturing.

Thanks to the community's precision incubation system, a group of companies have transformed into high-tech enterprises, boosting regional economic growth.

Promoting innovation with a global incubation network

Established in 2016, Xi'an Butfly Virtual Reality Technology Co has grown into a leading company in the extended reality digital technology industry after only seven years. The company settled in Xi'an Tusstar Incubator in 2018.

"Since joining the Xi'an Tusstar Incubator's program in 2018, the team has assisted us in participating in various competitions, connecting us with market and media resources, helping us expand onto a larger stage, and gathering more resources to support our company's development," said Wang Yagang, CEO of the company.

So far, this national-level science and technology enterprise incubator has incubated over 300 companies and held over 380 innovation activities. Among them, many incubated investment companies have grown into outstanding players in their respective fields.

As of the first half of 2023, Xi'an has recognized 285 units as various types of entrepreneurship carriers at the national, provincial, and municipal levels. Among them are 34 national-level science and technology enterprise incubators, ranking 5th among sub-provincial cities, and 78 nationally registered maker spaces.
