The opening ceremony of the 2023 Colorful Guizhou Cultural and Art Festival was held in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Aug 26.
The festival runs from April to November and includes 14 main activities, including theatrical performances, a fine arts competition, a singing competition, and a national artistic creation activity.
There are also 15 ancillary activities, including the Guiyang Strawberry Music Festival, Hailongtun International Visual Culture Week, and Guizhou Calligraphy and Seal Cutting Biennial Exhibition.
There will be 30 stage plays – which have won numerous national awards – from Guizhou Peking Opera Co, China Oriental Performing Arts Group Co, and the Shanghai Oriental Art Center.
The national artistic creation activity focuses on literature, music, and fine arts. Famous composers, painters and writers will be invited to experience the beautiful scenery and cultural heritage of Guizhou in person and create masterpieces that reflect Guizhou in the new era.
The singing competition includes 13 sub-competition areas throughout the province. Participants, both professional and non-professional singers from within and outside the province, can compete on the same stage.
The singing competition is divided into five categories: ethnic, bel canto, pop, original singing method, and chorus. The competition will be broadcast live both online and offline.
