Jinan to host intl spring culture festival in Sept

Jinan, which is renowned for its spring water, will launch its 11th edition of the International Spring Culture Festival on Sept 6, local officials said at a news conference on Aug 25.

This year's event, themed around "Paradise of Love and Spring", will feature a total of 34 activities covering culture, tourism, fashion, art, food and sports to highlight the city's spring culture.

These activities include an opening ceremony, a float parade, an orienteering for spring, musical shows, interaction campaigns themed on springs and a series of cultural performances. They will last for nearly one month.

Some new technologies and settings will be employed to this year's event, offering city residents and tourists ever-changing aspects of spring water.

The opening ceremony, entitled "Enchanted Night by the Spring", will combine guochao, or China chic, with the latest technologies and light installation to showcase the distinctive features of Jinan's spring water as well as the cultural essence of a poetic city of verses.

The event also has six sub-venues at the city's districts of Shizhong, Huaiyin, Changqing, and Gangcheng as well as Shanghe county. Activities featuring local culture will be launched, including the Shanghe hot spring festival.
