On Aug 18, students, who received three days of training during the woodwind summer camp, gave a concert at the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing.
Aged between 7 and 21, they played bassoon, clarinet, oboe and flute, as soloists and as an ensemble, featuring music pieces such as The Children Are Playing, Morning and music works adapted from popular movies.
More than 70 young students from different parts of China joined in the woodwind summer camp, which was part of the ongoing Gateway to Music festival, one of Beijing’s biggest arts festivals for children, which has been staged during the annual summer vacation since 1995.
Teachers from China Conservatory of Music, Central Conservatory of Music and China National Symphony Orchestra, coached the students.
It was the first time that the event featured a woodwind summer camp as one of its programs.
