The Yantai International Wine Festival 2023 kicked off in Yantai, East China's Shandong province on Aug 18.
Themed on "Yantai inebriates the world", the two-month festival will run till mid-October and feature activities related to film and marine ecology, an international dance contest, and various conferences.
The logo of the festival was also unveiled during the launching ceremony. The logo features a combination of the city's landscape and beach elements, and will be used on the city's local wine bottles.
Yantai has in recent years made efforts to promote the city's wine industrial development. These efforts include creating characteristic vineyards, developing boutique wineries, and creating notable production areas.
Yantai is today the largest wine production area and base in China and is home to 204 wine production companies and 63 notable wineries.
In 2022, the output of the city's wine companies accounted for 30 percent of the nation's total, with profits taking up 46.8 percent of the total.
