Jinan gears up conference, exhibition industry

As of the end of July, Jinan had organized 73 exhibitions with a total exhibition area exceeding 150 hectares so far this year. Among them were more than 20 consumer exhibitions.

These various exhibitions have not only promoted exchange and mutual learning among enterprises involved in the relevant industries, but also played a significant role in driving the development of Jinan's accommodation, catering, and tourism sectors.

Jinan has in recent years been bolstering efforts to develop its conference and exhibition industry.

In 2018, Jinan authorities implemented a slew of measures to boost the development of the conference and exhibition industry. The city has since been conferred titles such as "the most competitive city for conference and exhibition nationwide" and "conference and exhibition brand city in China".

Jinan has hosted over 600 exhibitions that led to economic benefits of over 60 billion yuan ($8.26 billion) since 2018. Among them, 20 exhibitions were certified by the International Exhibition Union (UFI). Internationally renowned exhibition companies such as France's Comexposium have also chosen to settle in Jinan.

Through a slew of high-end conferences and exhibitions, Jinan has enabled people from all walks of life to gain a better understanding of the city and created opportunities for talents and businesses to settle and develop in Jinan.

On Aug 17, Jinan unveiled a host of measures, including the provision of a maximum subsidy of 4 million yuan to exhibitions that span 5 hectares or more, to further boost the high-quality development of the conference and exhibition industry.
