Experts discuss auto tech, equipment development in SND

The 2023 Automotive Technology and Equipment Development Forum was held in Suzhou New District, East China's Jiangsu province, on Aug 22, local media outlets reported.

Automotive experts and renowned automakers were invited to explore the development of automotive technology and equipment, analyze the development of the auto industry, and discuss innovation and breakthroughs within it.

Wu Qingwen, mayor of Suzhou, delivered a speech at the forum, saying that Suzhou has always had an edge in the auto industry and that the city plans to take about five years to build an auto industry valued at 1 trillion yuan ($137.62 billion).

The mayor expects experts to offer advice on the high-quality development of Suzhou's auto industry and automakers and related professionals to invest and start businesses in the city.

A report and policies on the collaborative innovative development of the auto industry in SND and a proposal for automotive intelligent manufacturing partners were released and an automotive test technology and equipment collaborative innovation center was launched at the forum.

The innovation center was built by China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co, the Suzhou Municipal Government, and enterprises in SND, including Neway CNC Equipment and C*Core Technology Co.

Deepening the cooperation between central State-owned enterprises and local governments is a powerful driver for high-quality development. As of July, SND had reached cooperation agreements on 71 projects with 36 central State-owned companies, including eight projects worth more than 5 billion yuan.
