To date, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, commonly referred as Sinotruk, has exported over 500,000 heavy trucks to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, contributing to significant project construction and becoming a trusted partner for customers involved in BRI.
In the first half of this year, Sinotruk exported over 65,000 heavy trucks, representing a year-on-year increase of 64 percent.
With a focus on expanding into overseas markets, Sinotruk has accelerated the establishment of localized manufacturing facilities in countries such as Nigeria, Kenya, Morocco, and Uzbekistan. This effort has resulted in the construction of dozens of knock-down factories, with an annual production capacity exceeding 10,000 vehicles. As a result, Sinotruk has significantly improved its product competitiveness and brand influence in these local markets, said Liu Wei, vice-general manager of Sinotruk, at a news conference about the high-quality development of Jinan's four pillar industries held on Aug 17.
In addition, Sinotruk has significantly increased its investment in research and development (R&D), with a total investment of over 13 billion yuan ($1.78 billion) in the recent five years, Liu said.
Sinotruk has also replied on innovative platforms to attract top talents and research projects, creating an R&D team of nearly 4,000 professionals and a series of achievements such as the world's first self-developed high-end heavy truck with a drag coefficient of 0.37, Liu introduced.
Sinotruk has actively responded to the national call of BRI and insisted on global development. The group will forge a unique path for bringing Chinese brands to the global market through measures like focusing on creating top-quality products, expanding into new markets, exploring innovative channels, and building up the brand's reputation, Liu added.
