China has invested central funds worth 19 billion ($2.6 billion) into building traditional Chinese medicine infrastructure during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), a health official said on Thursday.

Qi Guixin, an official with the National Health Commission's department of planning and information, said the commission has coordinated with the National Development and Reform Commission to use the funds to support establishment of a number of TCM facilities.

These projects include regional medical centers, inheritance and innovation centers, infectious disease prevention and control bases, hospitals specializing in TCM and those which integrate TCM and Western medicine.
