Shanghai metro extends running hours in summer holiday rush

The operational hours of Shanghai Metro Line 10 and 17 will be extended from Aug 4 to Sept 3 to better cater to passengers' transport demands during the summer holiday rush. 

Metro Line 10 will schedule two extra trains on Friday nights that depart from Hongqiao Railway Station at 00:05 and 00:20, as well as an extra five on Sunday that leave the station at 23:15, 23:30, 23:45, 00:00 and 00:20.

The added train shifts will stop at nine main stations: Hongqiao Railway Station, Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2, Hongqiao Airport Terminal 1, Hongqiao Road, South Shaanxi Road, East Nanjing Road, Hailun Road, Siping Road and Wujiaochang. 

Among the nine stations, passengers can get on and off at Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 and Hongqiao Airport Terminal 1 stations, and can only get off at other stations.

Metro Line 17 will schedule two extra trains each on Friday and Sunday nights that depart from Hongqiao Railway Station at 23:15 and 23:30. The added train shifts will stop at five main stations, namely Hongqiao Railway Station, Xujingbeicheng, Huijin Road, Caoying Road and Zhujiajiao. Passengers can board the train at the Hongqiao Railway Station, and only alight at the other four stations.
