The span of seven hours sounds too long to sit at theater to enjoy a play, but maybe just enough to go through over a girl's childhood enriched by those neighbors, cats and dogs in the Beijing-style hutong alleyways.
The Beijing Children's Art Theater has created a drama trilogy Yaya, adapted from Ye Guangcen's work, which narrates the everyday life of Yaya, a girl living in hutong, and unfolds the social landscape of the capital city in the 1950s.
