Volvo-owner Geely Holding Group and China's internet giant Baidu unveiled a new brand on Monday, calling it a significant milestone in their strategic partnership.
The brand, called Ji Yue, is positioned as a "premium intelligent technology brand", said Geely in a statement.
Its flagship model, the Ji Yue 01, is scheduled to be unveiled in the fourth quarter this year. It is designed to meet the demand of tech-savvy consumers in China for autonomous mobility solutions, said the carmaker.
The model harnesses the benefits of Geely's manufacturing expertise and an established supply chain, and Baidu's artificial intelligence technologies, including advanced intelligent cabins and autonomous driving.
Geely said Ji Yue will also build and develop its own charging network in China to meet consumer demand for smart intelligent electric vehicles.
Geely and Baidu started their partnership in 2021 when the two teamed up to build the joint venture called Jidu. Their first model for mass production, called ROBO-01, was unveiled in October 2022, but deliveries have not yet started.
