The fourth phase of the Tongwei power station in Rudong county, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, was recently put into operation.

The project, which is funded by Tongwei Group, involves the application of solar photovoltaic power in the aquacultural industry and the creation of an unmanned aquaculture.

Tongwei Group, as a pioneer in the integration of solar photovoltaic power and aquaculture industries, has established 52 such bases.

At present, the base has achieved a total installed capacity of 100 megawatts (MW), making significant progress in clean energy transmission and innovative aquaculture models.

With a total investment of 500 million yuan ($68.87 million), the fourth phase covers an area of 1,479 mu (98.6 hectares) and has an installed capacity of 65 MW. It is expected to generate an annual electricity output of 75 million kilowatt-hours and reap approximately 2.2 million pounds of fish per year.

Unlike the previous three phases, the fourth phase adopts flexible support technology, reducing the construction of fixed supports. This practice helps save construction land, improves land utilization, and increase farming area.

After the integration of the fourth phase power generation into the grid, the base will summarize the aquaculture experience from the past few years and select high-quality aquatic species that are well-suited for Rudong. The base will further amplify the advantages of aquaculture and increase its contribution to green energy generation in the county.
