The eighth China Fruit Industry Brand Conference was held in East China's Shanghai on Aug 4.
According to the 2022 Fruit Regional Public Brand Value Report, which was released at the event, the brand values of Yantai apples and big cherries reached 15.29 billion yuan ($2.1 billion) and 5.69 billion yuan in 2022 respectively. The brand value of the Yantai apple has been ranked first among China's fruit brands for the past 14 years.
Yantai apples have been classified as a geographical indication, a sign of the expanding global acceptance of high-quality Chinese agricultural products. In recent years, Yantai has beefed up efforts to advance the development of its "digital apple industry", increased the added value of agricultural products as well as boosted the market competitiveness of apples.
Yantai is now upgrading old apple orchards and investing in automation, sorting and transportation to boost the quality and quantity of its products.
